Amalgamation

May 29, 2016 by Gina Marie

I haven’t touched my Nikon since the trip to Maine in April. However, my iPhone camera is with me pretty much all the time. Below are a few recent snaps; some of these were processed using Instagram filters. The top four photos are from a recent weekend getaway to Baltimore, where I attended an urban meditation retreat in the Charles Village neighborhood. I stayed in a studio rented via Air BNB; the hosts were Bowie fans (hence the record). It […]

Boston: A Love Note

November 17, 2015 by Gina Marie

The architecture was what struck me the most: miles of Back Bay brownstones, Victorians lining the Emerald Necklace park system that sprawled along Commonwealth Avenue into the heart of the city. Boston changed forms with the seasons: glistening in the wintertime with continuous nor’easters, pink with flowering trees in the springtime, green and quiet in the summer when students had gone home, bustling and colorful in autumn when they returned in September. I was one of them for a time. I had come to the city to […]

Caffeine-Induced Slumber

January 1, 2013 by Gina Marie

Such large quantities of caffeine coursed through the woman’s bloodstream that her face turned peaked. Little fireworks sprayed her neural pathways and her heart sped up, pounding out a steady pa-pum pa-pum pa-pum. Her breath quickened and she had to put her head between her knees to keep the world from spinning. She shouldn’t have slept. The tiny teacup containing an exotic, concentrated brew should have been enough to keep her awake for days. Strangely, though, it seemed to have […]

Eleven Images

November 11, 2011 by Gina Marie

Dancing deva in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Pure sacrilege. The Buddha would never drink Sprite. Orange Fanta? Maybe. The inscription above this doorway reads Intrent redeantq foelices. This is Latin for: “Enter and be happy.” Here is a medieval European painting. Here is an informational placard about the same medieval European painting. Here is what I really saw while viewing this particular medieval European painting. (Please note that I’m generally not an ass-girl; it’s simply that this gentleman’s derriere […]

Street Lamps

February 12, 2011 by Gina Marie

Foraging through old photos, I realized that street lamps tended to be a recurring theme. The Birds Like Me

May 20, 2010 by Gina Marie

I arrived at work the other day only to find bird poop in the shape of a “G” splattered on the windowpane directly adjacent to my desk. I seem to be rather popular among my avian friends . . . what can I say? I’m truly honored.
